Among the urban legends about declarations of matrimonial nullity (popularly but erroneously called “annulments” - a word that does not exist in the Code of Canon Law), is that they are expensive. Since the dawn of the internet, Catholic arch/dioceses have had a presence on the world wide web — indeed I’ve seen a few diocesan websites which seem not to have been updated much since that time — and have tried to offer information about who they are and what they do, about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church, about the sacraments of salvation, about local parishes, the local bishop and clergy, resources for learning more about the Catholic faith, and the different departments of the arch/diocesan offices, etc.
